Hello everyone, this is my first post here. I just got my first cell phone at over 80, this will probably be my last. I’d like to put a compass on it, but I can’t seem to. The phone is a Nokia 2.4. I can get the compass image on the screen but it doesn’t work. I’m looking for free. Of course, this phone doesn’t have a compass. Thanks for the help, but take it easy as I’m not up to date with the technology.

Hi, I just tried to use the compass but the phone says it’s not compatible with my device.
I don’t think the phone has a magnetic sensor (compass). So any compass apps that require a magnetic sensor are not compatible with it.
I checked first and the 2.4 doesn’t have a magnetometer / compass / e-compass sensor like my spare Moto E6.

Looking further, although I just couldn’t find a compass, the GPS checker app has a basic compass available below that seems to only work with GPS hardware (?).

I’ve never had a cell phone but since I need one when traveling to prove vaccinations etc my son bought me this phone which seems to work / I was in America / before the pandemic / and plans to return. I hope to get my certificate soon when I’m over 80 years old. I’ve learned a lot about phones since I got it, and the compass is just as useful to me as a stargazer, but for now I’ll stick with it. so maybe sell. Update it and I’ll know what I need in the future. I tried the GPS TEST app, but no matter what I do, I can’t get anything out of it, so if anyone can tell me how to show north or south on the phone, I’d appreciate it. I live in the Shetland Islands in Scotland.

Yes hi I live outside of London and although the compass works after the first few GPS searches on the main screen, this app did not work on the second try last night. I didn’t understand, sorry. This is no longer my primary phone.

I must say that I just found out that my new Motorola E7 does not have a magnetic/inertial sensor. So no compass, no stargazing! What a disappointment! I thought all phones had this these days. My old Galaxy S5 has everything and still works.
Certainly some application code writers could tell the GPS to feed the direction information to a “compass” application that does not require the use of a magnetic sensor.

How To Acess Mongodb With Mongodb Compass
So I have a multipurpose utility called Army Knife for Android which has a compass feature among other things.
This processor info (good app) doesn’t show a list of compass sensors unless it’s the direction of the device. Anyway, I have a different E6.
I can’t find that guass app right now, but I’m not worried about the sensor since it’s not my everyday thing and I’ve had other devices without magnetometers in the past.
But isn’t it strange (to me) that the compass function works in one app but not another?

I realized that when I have wifi on a map app (Google Maps, always) I can map my nearby route and then at a subway or taxi stop or outside the front door tell me to use my disconnected phone to see where I’m going to my destination.
