Applications Do Mathematics Tasks – I recently wrote a post summarizing Stacking Paperwork’s multi-touch book for iBooks. If you’ve had the chance to download a multi-touch book, you’ll find that it’s interactive and collaborative, using the Padlet walls for students to share their work.
However, I asked a few people on Twitter how they could do something like this without an iPad:
Applications Do Mathematics Tasks
@MathletePearce Do you have any suggestions on how to replicate this tutorial for Chromebook users? #MTBoS — Gretchen Eastman (@GEastman34) August 20, 2015

Fear not, Chromebookers or ‘anti-applets’. You can still engage your students in this series of 3-event interactive math tasks through your favorite web browser!
By creating a Google site through the Google Apps for Education account I created for my school, I was able to create an environment similar to the Stacking Paper Tasks multi-touch book for iBooks.
One of the great things about Google Sites is how easy it is to get a website online. Creating a website on Google is similar to creating a Google Doc and offers easy ways to embed content through ‘gadgets’ like YouTube videos, Pedlet walls, etc. Of course, most people will contact a professional team like B12 and their website builder if they want to create a website, but it is possible to do this yourself with Google Sites.
First we’ll start with a one-page YouTube video demonstrating paper stacking 3 line math task 1:
Florida Atlantic University
Then, as in the Multi-Touch book, we ask students to share questions they have about the Padlet Wall. Instead of embedding the Pedlet Wall in the iBooks Author widget, I used the iframe widget to embed the Pedlet Wall in a Google Sites page:
Again, using Google Sites’ iframe gadget, I placed another Padlet Wall on another Google Sites page for students to share their predictions:
Now I want the students to find a solution. They can do it on paper and take a photo later, or they can write on the whiteboard (awwapp.com) that I placed on a Google site page and embedded with another iframe gadget:
Students are then asked to share their solution on the Padlet wall so they can quickly see the different approaches and solutions of their peers. You can also ask students to provide student feedback at the same time:

Finally, students go to the next page and watch the Act 3 YouTube video embedded on the page to see what actually happened:
While I think the multi-touch books created in iBooks Author offer much more in the way of visual appeal and functionality, Google Sites gives teachers a quick way to create interactive math tasks that students can complete anytime, at any time. and can be accessed on any device.

I don’t have an outline for this task yet, but you can go to the resources page provided by the author of the 3 Function Math Task for Resources.
