How To Do Live Video On Facebook – If you’re looking to start going live on Facebook, here’s a quick guide to getting everything right before you go live, making a real connection with your live audience, and planning your Facebook Live video for future greatness.
Facebook Live can be a great way to interact with your audience. If you’re thinking about starting a Facebook Live program, where do you start? What do you have to do?
How To Do Live Video On Facebook
The mobile phone is perfect for events and spontaneous live broadcasts. In addition, many tools can improve live video streaming from mobile devices. However, in most cases, the desktop option offers a more professional display of video content.
Facebook Live For Photographers: The Do’s, Don’ts & Top Tips
In your Facebook app, click the Publish button, tap the Live Video icon, give your video an SEO-rich description, and click Start Live Video.
When live streaming through the Facebook app, you can only use portrait/portrait mode. When you put your phone in landscape mode, the video will be posted sideways on your Facebook feed.
You can solve this problem by using third-party mobile software. We will talk about this later. (In a hurry? Download our FREE step-by-step guide to Facebook Live now.)
I love the instant live streaming on my phone… but for a more professional stream, you can’t beat a desktop computer.

From here you can schedule videos on Facebook, share your screen, add graphics, display comments as an overlay, and more.
You can also create test broadcasts that are only visible to site administrators. They are great for testing and sampling before being sent out into the world.
Now you can reserve extra time to plan your Facebook streams and fill your calendar with social content in advance.
When you schedule a live broadcast in advance, a notification message is created on your page’s timeline. People can click the Interested button to get a notification from Facebook when you start broadcasting.
How To Go Live On Facebook: A Step By Step Guide
This notification message will be published as soon as you start streaming. This means you can use the link in this post to promote your show in advance.
As the sending time approaches, click on “Administrators only: edit your information” above the message. This will take you back to Live Producer.
If you’re nervous or just want to practice your presentation beforehand, Live Producer has a feature that lets you easily broadcast to other site administrators.
This is a great way to check that everything is working correctly and to get used to being in front of the camera.
How To Stream To Facebook Live
When setting up a live stream, scroll down to the left and check the Publish as test stream box.
Screen sharing is useful, especially if you use Facebook Live to teach. You can share your presentation or show others how to complete tasks online or on your computer.
Before using this option, you should know that Live Producer does not seem to allow switching between the camera and the monitor. To do this, you need to use third-party software.
If you don’t use subtitles, people who are deaf or hard of hearing won’t be able to understand what you’re saying. If you can’t watch it with sound, you’ll lose interest.
A New Way To Watch Videos From Facebook On Your Tv
Live Producer allows live captioning. When enabled, add subtitles to your broadcast while speaking. They are not 100% accurate, but you can get a very good result if you speak slowly and to the point.
Adding graphic overlays to presentations can improve the viewing experience, and because it makes the video more visually interesting, you can keep the viewer’s attention longer.
If you’re streaming with third-party software, you can use Live Producer to add graphics to your stream. These graphics can add comments to your screen, add an image overlay, a logo or a moving character.
Here is the ticker I created for my live broadcasts. (Looking forward to having more control over the design.)
How To Get A Facebook Live Stream Key
I love how versatile Live Producer has become – but like everything else on Facebook, it has its bugs. You don’t have enough control over what you do, and that’s hard to control when you’re a one-woman show.
Third-party software integrates with Facebook Live, providing additional functionality and avoiding the hassle associated directly with Facebook.
Rather than bore you with a full review, I thought I’d introduce you to the two I couldn’t live without.
ECamm Live makes me happy as a Mac user. I use it for my streaming and love it. (Sorry Windows users, it’s only for Macs.)
Vital Facebook Live Statistics: 2024 Viewership & Marketing Use
ECamm Live has a user-friendly interface that makes it easy to comment, add graphic overlays and play pre-recorded video clips.
You can also stream with a guest using Skype integration. There are even built-in sound effects. In addition, it supports green screen and you can use your phone as a camera.
My only criticism is the Skype integration. Skype eats up MacBook memory, just like streaming. I use Streamyard for my chat shows.
Streamyard is a browser-based software. This means you can use it on any computer. It is also available on the mobile network. You can use it from anywhere. This solves a lot of the problems I have with streaming directly from the mobile app.
What Is Facebook Live, How Does It Work, And Which Devices Support It?
It also has many features compatible with eCamm Live, such as text overlays, highlighted comments, green screen and pre-recorded video overlays.
The downside to Streamyard, in my opinion, is that you don’t have as much control over the placement of your graphics as you do with eCam. Also, Stream Deck is not currently integrated. More about this soon in the Stream Deck.
One of the things I’ve always loved about Facebook Live is that it’s accessible to anyone with a smartphone.
I’ve improved my rig over the four years I’ve been performing live. Here’s what’s in my gear bag and bucket list.

Your phone’s microphone is pretty good, but if you’re in a noisy room, it’s hard to be heard.
I have a Rode Video Micro in my gear bag. It’s a great directional microphone that only picks up sound directly in front of you. The first time I used it, I was in a busy bar, but I could still hear the interviewee perfectly.
The video microphone can be attached to the camera or tripod or act as a handheld microphone. Roden VideoMic can also be installed on your smartphone.
To avoid shaky videos, I use an iOgrapher stand on my phone. It fits your phone and has two straps and a holder for a microphone like the Rode VideoMicro, lights and other accessories.
Beginners Guide To Live Streaming
Mac’s webcam has seen better days… It doesn’t like too dark an environment and loves to pixelate bright colors.
When you buy an external webcam, you are no longer tied to your computer. You can mount it anywhere or mount it on a stand to get the best possible angle.
I use a Logitech C20 for my streams. It records videos in high resolution and the image is always clear.
On my wishlist is a Logitec Brio that supports 4K video. (However, I worry about how much makeup I’ll have to wear when I update!)
A Step By Step Guide To Use Facebook Live Video (1/2)
Just like with cell phones, a good microphone can improve sound quality, eliminate background noise, and even make your voice richer.
New in my equipment bag is the Stream Deck XL. It’s a vision mixer that lets you add graphic overlays, video clips, and sound effects to your live stream at the touch of a button.
I use it in conjunction with eCamm Live, but it also integrates with a few other streaming platforms.
If your workspace isn’t camera friendly, a green screen can transport you to any room. Compatible streaming software replaces the green screen with a photo or video.
How To Go On Facebook Live From Computer
Elgato Green Screen is on my wish list. It has its own pop-up stand, so it can be easily installed when needed.
The best light for broadcasting is natural light. If possible, shoot in a location with lots of natural light.
Position yourself so that the light and camera are facing you. If the light is behind you, even the best webcam will struggle to adjust the exposure for you relative to the background.
Some days it’s too dark to take photos, even in a room full of windows. Lighting is needed for these days.
How To Find Your Stream Url And Stream Key In Facebook
I currently use cheap EEDDI lamps. They serve their purpose, but take up a lot of space in my already small office.
Ring lights are popular among many vloggers. They’re designed to face you, and many ring lights have a phone or webcam holder in the middle.
The problem with these lights is that they can make you blink if they are pointed directly at you. If you wear glasses, it is difficult to take a picture without the glasses reflecting off the lenses.
