I took the demo image from the Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia application page, removed the comments and enlarged it. The copyright is theirs and I have to remove it if asked.
Make sure your photo is taken against a white background (I used a clean, white wall), then use your favorite image editor to adjust the brightness and contrast until the background is as close to pure white as possible.

This was resolved by changing my browser to Internet Explorer for rendering. At first I was using IE8 but it failed due to connection security issues. I was able to submit and pay successfully through Internet Explorer 11 on Windows.

In case of problems, the system will save your previous notes (including photo) and immediately redirect you to the “payment options” page when you restart the application process.
