While regularly browsing the Google Play Store for new video editing apps, I came across an app called “VN”. The provided screen grab looked promising and I downloaded the app. After launching it, I was greeted with a splash screen asking me to sign in or create an account. I seriously considered deleting the app again. I’m at the point where I really don’t want to sign up for the 3478 service, especially before trying the app. Curiosity got the better of me, though, and I’m glad it did.

First things first: The VN isn’t exactly new. Apparently it’s been around for about two years according to the Playstore release date, but the relatively low number of downloads compared to other popular free video editing apps suggests that it hasn’t been noticed by many. As for the audio, the recordings recorded in the app itself, at least on the Android version, don’t sound very good (I’ve tested on two devices so far), like they’re recorded at a low audio bitrate or sample rate, but I’m sure that this can be fixed with the update Also, you can’t boost the sound on the Android version while using iOS. A few days after I discovered VN, I looked at another app that I had tried a year ago when it was in beta, but lost it within a few months.
