After two years It’s fair to say that music services benefit from MusicKit’s integration with Apple Music and users’ local music libraries. For actual music playback, though, Sour has its own Now Playing screen. But it uses the Apple Music sound system and player under the hood, which means that if a song is played in Sur, it will appear in the Music app as well, since Sur is the parent service of the same service. While the Apple Music app uses 3D Touch and buttons to display context menus for songs, playlists, and more, Soor forgoes 3D Touch entirely and uses pop-up menus and drag and drop to let users can perform actions and control their queue . . . The context menu is called up by tapping the ellipsis button next to the song/album or artist name on the currently playing screen. I like that these menus aren’t modal on the iPhone – they don’t span the entire screen – but feel more like macOS-inspired context menus, even though the desktop menus are similar.
